More success and at Lydd this time……….
December 12, 2011 in News
With four drivers racing this weekend, the team decided to go down to Lydd for their Non-MSA race.
The Honda Clubman class attracts healthy numbers and this weekend saw 17 drivers decend upon the event. Jack Clegg, Jenson Butterfield and Khali Atkins qualified in good positions and drove extremely well all day.
Jack took a second in H
eat 1 after leading for a number of laps with some great driving but had to take avoiding action in the pre final and ended up on the grass where he was stuck until help arrived. Jack qualified well for the final in 4th place, but was caught out at the start, although no fault of his own, and he dropped positions. Jack worked very hard throughout the race picking other racers off, but in typical ‘Jack’ style he left it until the last lap to make his bid for the podium, bringing his kart home in a very respectable 3rd place, a win is not far away.
The numbers for the Honda Cadets are not quite so large, but there are some extremely talented drivers in this class including Super 1 drivers. Luke Whitehead was our only entrant and he qualified in 5th place in the wet. Luke drove very well in all the heats finishing 3rd and 1st respectively. Starting the final in 2nd place he was in with a good chance, but dropped to 4th after being eased out into the first turn. Luke moved through the pack quickly and then set about catching the front runners who had pulled a good distance on the rest of the racers. Luke caught the front runners, showing some serious pace and made it to 2nd with 2 laps left and he then set about chasing down the leader who he caught on the last bend of the last lap and although he tried to pass on the short run up to the flag he had to settle for 2nd place. Luke posted the fastest lap time in the final and Heat 1 by over half a second in Heat 1.
A great weekend again for all those involved in the team and we can hardly wait for Buckmore Park MSA next weekend…..
