F6 Round 2………more podiums for the team!

May 15, 2012 in News

Saturday the 5th of  May was Round 2 of the F6 Championship held again at Bayford Meadows.

The morning qualifying was in the wet and Liam Carter showed his prowess by taking Pole with Jake Gillett in Second and the rest of the boys following closely after.

Liam took control of Heat 1 from the start and pulled a nice gap with Jake tangling with another kart and going wide on the first turn, Luke Whitehead came through from 4th to eventually take the win…

Heat 2 was a similar race as they started in the same grid positions as heat 1, but Liam got off to flyer and pulled a big gap on the field in the opening laps and although Luke again started to catch him gradually,  Liam had done enough in the opening laps to secure the win. Jake Gillett had a great heat and showed very good pace but a big puddle at the back of the circuit caught him out and his engine cut out.

Luke qualified in pole for the final with Liam next door in 2nd. A great race ensued and Luke lead for 90% under immense pressure from another Cadet driver who eventually pipped him to the flag. Liam took the win the Clubman race and Jenson Butterfield and Oilver Appleby who were in their first F6 Cadet race at Bayford did very well mid pack with Jack Clegg taking full advantage of his weight difference,  putting in a solid drive moving through the field from the rear to mid pack. Jake Gillett  who had to start near the back managed to get towards the front with real promise but he clipped a tyre wall coming onto the main straight and although he managed to recover his kart he dropped back through the field for the finishh.

The next round of F6 is at Whilton Mill……..that should be an exciting round.
